HARTFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Hartford has named David A. Carter, 48, as senior vice president of
property insurance for Commercial Markets. In this newly created
position, Carter will report to Douglas G. Elliot, president of
"David brings exceptional property experience to The Hartford and I am
confident in his ability to help us increase our market position," said
Elliot. "In his new role, he will build a team and work across
Commercial Markets to enhance the company's property capabilities."
Carter has more than 25 years of insurance experience primarily focused
on commercial markets. Most recently, he served as vice president —
property, Travelers Commercial Accounts. Carter has held various
leadership roles at The Travelers Companies, Inc. for more than 17
years. He started his career as a property underwriter for Aetna.

Carter holds a bachelor's degree in marketing from the University of
Louisiana at Monroe. He is a 10-year resident of West Hartford, with
strong ties to the community. He serves as Chairman of the Board of
Administration and Finance for the Asylum Hill Congregational Church in
Hartford and is also involved with the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
