The Hartford Appoints New Head Of National Accounts For Group Benefits

February 6, 2017
"Strong distribution partnerships, especially at the local and regional level where the needs are specific and unique, are critical in today’s benefits environment"

The Hartford has named Kris Kearney to lead national accounts for the Group Benefits business. Reporting to Lori High, chief marketing officer and head of sales for Group Benefits, he will be responsible for enhancing relationships with top distribution partners and companies with more than 5,000 employees. Kearney’s appointment is part of a strategy to more closely align Group Benefits sales, underwriting and actuarial expertise with the specific regional needs of brokers, producers and employers.

Kearney’s team will include Kimberly Mashburn, who has been promoted to National Accounts Practice Lead, responsible for partnering with absence management, disability and life practice leads at national consulting firms.

“Strong distribution partnerships, especially at the local and regional level where the needs are specific and unique, are critical in today’s benefits environment,” said High. “Kris and Kimberly are successful sales leaders with the background, experience and relationship management skills to ensure we are well positioned to capitalize on opportunities with large companies in key geographic markets.”

Kearney, who has more than two decades of industry experience, joined The Hartford in 2004 as a regional sales manager and has held positions of increasing responsibility in sales within The Hartford’s Group Benefits business. Most recently, Kearney served as regional vice president of the Western division, responsibilities he will retain in his new role. He has a BA in Finance from Florida Southern College and an MBA from the University of South Florida.

Mashburn joined The Hartford in 2014 as absence, disability and wellness sales consultant and has over 25 years of experience in the fields of absence and disability management, workplace productivity, wellness and return to work strategies. She began her career as a registered nurse, served in healthcare and insurance leadership roles and was a consultant with a national firm prior to joining The Hartford. Mashburn has a BSN from the University of Tennessee.
