"Congratulations to everyone at The Hartford for being recognized as a World's Most Ethical Company."

HARTFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Hartford has been recognized as a 2017 World’s Most Ethical Company®, achieving this prestigious accolade for the ninth time, as designated by the Ethisphere Institute, a global leader in defining and advancing the standards of ethical business practices.

“We are honored to be recognized for the ninth time as a World’s Most Ethical Company, exemplifying the highest standards of ethics and compliance,” said The Hartford’s Chairman and CEO Christopher Swift. “At The Hartford, we recognize that a company’s reputation for doing business the right way is essential to its sustained success.”

The Hartford’s culture of integrity and honesty is upheld by leadership accountability and ongoing education for employees to identify and prevent ethical lapses and compliance issues.

This is the 11th year Ethisphere has honored companies that recognize their role in society to influence and drive positive change, consider the impact of their actions on their employees, investors, customers and other key stakeholders and use their values and culture as an underpinning to the decisions they make every day. The World’s Most Ethical Company assessment is based upon a framework that scores a company in five key categories: ethics and compliance program (35%), corporate citizenship and responsibility (20%), culture of ethics (20%), governance (15%) and leadership, innovation and reputation (10%).

“The Hartford demonstrates a culture of the highest ethical standard, offering customers, employees and investors an exceptional brand that stands for honesty and integrity,” Ethisphere’s Chief Executive Officer, Timothy Erblich. “Congratulations to everyone at The Hartford for being recognized as a World's Most Ethical Company."

Ethisphere named 124 companies to this year’s World’s Most Ethical Companies list. The full list of the 2017 World's Most Ethical Companies can be found at http://worldsmostethicalcompanies.ethisphere.com/honorees/.
