The Hartford has appointed Melinda Thompson as vice president and head of Sales and Distribution, reporting to Doug Elliot, president of The Hartford. In this role, she will be responsible for enhancing relationships with The Hartford’s top distribution partners and working with the company’s Property & Casualty and Group Benefits sales leadership teams to drive growth across the businesses.
“The achievement of our business and financial objectives requires strong and productive relationships with independent agents and brokers,” said Elliot. “Melinda is a strong sales and underwriting leader with a long track record of success at The Hartford. I am confident that she will be a great partner to our sales leaders and distribution partners as we look to broaden and deepen our relationships with the firms we rely on to represent us in the marketplace.”
Thompson began her career with The Hartford in 1998 as an underwriter in the Middle Market business and has held positions of increasing responsibility in sales and underwriting across The Hartford’s Middle Market, Small Commercial and Personal Lines businesses. Most recently Thompson served as regional vice president of the company’s office in Charlotte, where she led the Middle Market field operations in North and South Carolina.
Thompson holds a bachelor’s degree in managerial economics from the University of California, Davis.
